Karen Smith, Salesperson
Karen is a second generation Realtor whose father brought her family to
Cape May in 1972 to live “at the shore” amongst the beautiful landscape,
homes and beaches. At the time, many of the homes in Cape May had seen
better days and Karen fell in love as she watched Cape May come to life as
she was growing up during a revitalization of the beautiful Victorian town.
Following graduation from Lower Cape May Regional High School, Karen
graduated from Salisbury University with a Bachelors of Science degree in
Elementary Education, and earned a Master's in the Art of Teaching Degree
from Marygrove College.
After graduation from college Karen returned to her hometown of Cape May
and began her teaching career in the Lower Township Elementary School
District as a fourth grade teacher. Fourteen years into her career she became
a certified Project Lead the Way instructor and was instrumental in the
inception of the STEM program for third and fourth grade students at the
Maud Abrams Elementary School. Karen retired after a wonderful career of
33 years.
Karen and her husband Jeff of Church’s Seashore Landscaping, who is also a
Cape May native, are known as consistently hard workers with stellar
reputations within various service industry roles in the area. Karen knows
the value of honesty, integrity, hard-work, and the importance of relationship
building for success in all aspects of life. Karen is a natural born leader and
someone who works tirelessly to make the best deal for her clients come to
fruition.
While teaching and raising their two boys, JR and Justin, you may have run
into Karen while cheering for her sons on the soccer field, tennis court or
playing tennis herself at the Cape May Tennis Club. Karen can also be found
serving drinks throughout the summer at Harpoons on the Bay or in the past
at the Lobster House or The Washington Inn.
After having successfully completed a meaningful teaching career where she
has made an impact on thousands of students, and worked with many
wonderful friends and colleagues, Karen has put forth all of her people skills
and knowledge into her Real Estate career with the Homestead Real Estate
